Wife Warns Husband They Can’t Afford To Visit Disney, But Husband Still Promises His Family They Can Go
A Reddit user shares that her mother-in-law invited her and her husband to spend the holidays at Disney. However, due to their poor financial situation, there is no way they can afford to go on vacation. And yet, her husband started making plans with his mom, disregarding her warning.
Her Husband Is Terrible With Money
The original poster (OP) and her husband are high school sweethearts. And when they were young, they made awful financial decisions.
So, everything had to be under OP’s name because she had a better credit score. OP is responsible for paying the utility bills, while her husband is responsible for paying the rent. Sadly, he didn’t pay rent for months which destroyed her credit.
And although taking counseling and therapy and agreeing to a second chance, OP’s husband continues to have money woes. For instance, he borrowed money from her aunt and hasn’t been paying her as promised.
So, OP’s husband asked the aunt not to say anything because he knew it would upset her. But OP was angry when she found out and said they could no longer spend money on trips, games, and entertainment until he paid her aunt back in full.

The Mother-In-Law Wants The Family To Go To Disney
OP’s mother-in-law said they planned to go to Disney and wanted them to come. But OP knew they couldn’t afford a trip, especially at Disney. However, their current financial situation didn’t stop OP’s husband from agreeing to join and making plans with his mom.
That infuriated OP because a trip to Disney would cost them thousands of dollars due to plane tickets, hotel accommodations, food, and gas alone. And there was no way OP could justify a trip when her husband still owes her aunt money.
OP’s husband finally agreed. And she thought this was the end of talking about visiting Disney.

Her Husband Said This Trip Was Important To His Mother
A few years ago, OP’s husband’s grandmother passed away. So, he wanted to grant his mother’s wish for them to go to Disney because he believed it would help his mom with the grieving process.
Unfortunately, that still didn’t solve their money problems.
So, OP’s mother-in-law offered to buy her son out of his portion of the inheritance from his grandmother. This money would allow him to pay back the debt he owed OP’s aunt and would enable them to afford a trip to Disney.
Logistically, this strategy made sense to OP. But OP was hesitant to trust her financially irresponsible husband and made him swear that he took care of everything.
OP reached out to her aunt, and her aunt confirmed she received all the money her husband owed in her bank account.

He Didn’t Get Bought Out of His Inheritance
OP’s husband didn’t get bought out of his inheritance. And it wasn’t that his mother couldn’t pay him. Instead, OP’s husband felt “too guilty” taking money from his mother.
He only allowed his mother to pay his debt with the aunt and the Disney tickets. So, everything else, such as food, gas, and hotel accommodations, would come out of their pocket.
The husband insists he didn’t lie to OP. Instead, he thought this decision wasn’t a big deal, and she was overreacting.
OP immediately kicked him out of the house because she didn’t want to look at him. If he couldn’t admit he lied to her, OP didn’t want to be in the same room with him.
What Does The Reddit Community Think?
Many Reddit users say this is the end for OP and her husband. They say OP’s husband “trashed” her credit and is ruining her financially. Another user said, “He will never stop lying about money. He wants to spend money like he has extra, and it won’t stop.”
Someone in the Reddit community wondered where the rent money was going. If OP’s husband could not pay the rent, they asked where he was spending it.
Is OP wrong for kicking her husband out of the house? Did OP’s husband lie to her for not sharing the entire truth? Where do you foresee their marriage, especially with all their financial problems?
