She Became A Self-Made Millionaire And Now Her Estranged Mother Wants To Reconnect
A Reddit user shares her story of her mom kicking her out of the house because she couldn’t get along with her mom’s boyfriend. Eventually, the original poster (OP) started a business supporting a niche construction industry that turned into more than a few million dollars over a few months.
She Moved In With Her Dad After Her Parents Split Up
OP couldn’t get along with her mom’s new boyfriend. So, her mom told her to leave. OP didn’t have a problem with her mom’s decision because she could never forgive her mother for how much pain her mom put her dad through.
So, OP moved in with her father, who also had to move in with his parents. After a year, her younger sister wanted to move out of her mom’s house and asked OP if she could move in with her.
Her Dad And Grandparents Saw Potential In Her
OP’s grandparents encouraged her to start a business because they noticed she liked to tinker with things. In addition, OP’s dad saw potential in her as she built specialized tools for a niche construction industry he worked in. So, they gave OP a lot of money as an investment because they believed in her.

OP said she “majorly lucked out” and acquired several national contracts. Those contracts allowed her to generate more than a few million dollars over a few months with a profit trajectory on the rise.
Now, OP is living a life she never imagined. She moved her dad, grandparents, and sister to another part of the country to start a life together. OP surrounds herself with positive-thinking people who always see the best in her.

Her Mom Wants To Reunite
Recently, OP’s mom has been becoming more insistent that OP visit her, her boyfriend, and their kids. According to OP, her mom says she gave her younger sister a privileged life and that OP should also look out for her two half-siblings. And, her mom is okay if OP can never forgive her, but not to judge her kids because “they’re innocent in all this.”
The Masses Weight In
The Reddit community is saying OP isn’t financially responsible for her siblings, especially since OP doesn’t have a relationship with them. And, yet, that doesn’t mean she doesn’t care about them, either. They add that her siblings are not “entitled” to any of her money.
Other Reddit users say OP’s mom never showed interest in building a relationship until it benefited her and her new family. Users support OP doing whatever she wants with her money. If OP wants to create a college fund or not that’s up to her. They say she has no reason to feel guilty for her success.
Should OP reconnect with her estranged mom and take care of her half-siblings?
