Boyfriend Demands Girlfriend’s Access Code to Her Jewelry Collection
A Reddit user shares that her boyfriend of two years moved into her house. However, he asked for the access code to gem safe and said she could trust him since they were living together.
She Owns A Large And Valuable Collection Of Jewelry
The original poster (OP) is a Gemologist and has an extensive and valuable collection she has collected over time. And these gems are not a few little ones. Instead, her collection is easily worth over six figures. For this reason, she installed a large safe to keep her precious stones.

Her Boyfriend Says It’s About Trust
The OP poster owns a house, and her boyfriend moved in to rent from her. OP owns a smaller safe and provided the access code to him for his personal belongings.
However, the boyfriend also wanted to know the access code to her large safe with her gem collection. OP denied his request stating her boyfriend has no reason to open her private safe and that it’s used for storing her collection.
The boyfriend says he has no interest in the gem collection, nor doesn’t want to look at them. And yet, he continues to push OP’s boundaries disrespectfully.
For example, he says she needs to share the whole house with him and doesn’t like there are parts of where he lives that are off-limits to him. Also, he says that not having access to the safe makes him feel lesser than OP and that she is treating him like a child.

The Relationship Wasn’t Working Out
OP told her boyfriend that this wasn’t the right relationship for both of them and that they should break up. He was shocked and asked OP to reconsider. However, OP already made up her mind.
He technically still had 30 days left on his lease agreement. But he quickly moved out and stayed with a friend.

The Reddit Community Chimes In
Many users say OP is not wrong for not sharing her access code with her boyfriend and anyone else. They say money does weird things to people, and you begin to see their true colors.
Other Reddit users were finding his actions acceptable, pointing out that he had just moved in and now is asking for access to everything. They jokingly suggest OP ask for his bank PIN and his email password to his email to see how he would respond.
Is OP wrong for not wanting to share the access code to her private gem collection? Is OP belittling her boyfriend and showing she doesn’t trust him? Or was OP’s boyfriend begging to show his true colors by continuing to push the subject?
