Wix For Affiliate Marketing – Good Idea Or Not?
Owning and managing websites is at the heart of many affiliate marketing businesses. Question is, who offers the best tools and services in this regard? Well, one popular option is Wix. Not only is this platform known for producing informative and eye-catching sites at an affordable price, but it also requires little expertise on your part to get up and running.
No doubt, you can use Wix for affiliate marketing, but is it your best option? Continue reading to find out the answer!
WHAT IS WIX AND HOW DOES IT WORK?
Wix is a cloud-based website building platform that uses “drag and drop” technology. Users can select from over 500+ designer-made templates to create professional-looking sites. No matter if you’re an entrepreneur, musician, photographer, or small business owner, Wix has something available for everyone.
Wix is simple to use, and website creation begins with just five simple steps. First, you’re asked to create a free account. During this process, you decide what kind of website you’d like to create.
During step two, it’s time to answer a few easy questions necessary to begin building the site using the Wix ADI (described below). Here’s where you can also opt to select a designer-made template if you’d prefer. Step three involves customizing everything the site contains, such as adding images, text, video and more to create a content-rich and visually impactful website.
During step four, you can publish your website when you believe everything’s ready to share with the public. The last step, step five, involves adding more content as the site needs to continue growing including an online store, online affiliate system, booking system, and other business tools.
WHAT IS INCLUDED IN WIX?
Wix Editor
Wix includes multiple features. Among them is the Wix Editor, which users will likely benefit from the most right from scratch. The editor includes over 500 business-friendly templates, industry-leading SEO, mobile optimization, an app market, advanced design features, unlimited fonts, scroll effects, and media galleries.
Wix ADI
For those who use the Wix ADI (Artificial Design Intelligence), all you have to do is answer a few easy questions before the system creates a website for you and you’ll be online within moments. Use of this feature includes tailor-made content, original designs, mobile-friendly essentials, smart tips, advanced editing for colors and fonts, and built-in SEO.
Wix Code
Wix Code allows you to build a website using the advanced options with all the same capabilities and design features as the Wix Editor. These advanced options include code capabilities, content management, dynamic pages, repeat layouts, user input, and custom interactions.
Using this option allows you to have free-range of your website from top to bottom as you’ll work on every aspect of its coding.
A CLOSER LOOK INTO USING WIX FOR AFFILIATE MARKETING
With all its online store and business options, Wix isn’t just limited to hobbyist bloggers — it’s also intended for anyone interested in building an online business, including affiliate marketers.
By going through the Wix website building and creation system, affiliate marketers can get a site up and running in no time simply by dragging and dropping content elements, including advertising banners, images, text, and buttons for links. This way, you can spend your time on the most important part of your business: marketing.
Let’s take a closer look at some of what Wix can offer affiliate marketers:
Professional Website Features Businesses Can Embrace
Aside from the ease of building and customizing a website through Wix, you can also take advantage of features that will help you develop a professional hub.
For example, you can create a custom domain name and professional mailbox. You can also use Wix to host your site, view analytics, manage contacts, and have members log in. There are also options for incorporating Wix Chat, social tools, and an SSL Certification to boost SEO.
Businesses Can Grow Online Through Wix
As an affiliate marketer, your job is to promote other companies’ products and services. But down the road, you may want to branch out and sell your own products, something which Wix can also help you with.
Wix Stores allow you to do so with their storefront, store manager, product pages, multiple payment methods, coupons, discounts, and worldwide shipping and tax calculator. When used in conjunction with each other, these tools allow you to develop professional websites to seamlessly sell your products, as well as accept payments.
For those who need help with bookings, Wix Bookings has that figured out, too. If you’re offering services, Bookings 24/7 will handle them for you. You can get paid online, offer appointments or services, sync your Google Calendar, set auto-email reminders, and accept bookings through the Wix mobile app.
Besides being able to keep all your appointments carefully organized through the booking feature, your website will also help your business reach more customers effectively.
Features for Promoting Wix Websites
It’s possible to boost engagement while simultaneously increasing traffic and learning how visitors behave on your website. These factors are particularly important as an affiliate marketer.
Promotional features include a personalized SEO plan, SEO analytics, email marketing, visitor analytics, social tools, and tools to make it easy for visitors to subscribe. Not only are these tools robust, but they’ll also help you to become more successful in your affiliate marketing efforts.
You’ll be able to achieve this by driving traffic with rich content and SEO strategies, keeping your audience engaged with social tools and email marketing, and understanding how they behave with analytics.
IS WIX THE BEST OPTION FOR AFFILIATE MARKETERS?
As made clear in the last section, there’s no doubt Wix has a lot going for it. But with all that said, it’s still not my top choice for affiliate marketers and here’s why…
- First, I don’t recommend building professional websites on proprietary platforms like Wix because it makes it difficult to transfer your website to other hosting providers should you ever decide to do so.Ideally, you always want to build your affiliate websites using WordPress — the most reliable and best-known website creation tool used to build almost 75 million websites.
- Second, Wix doesn’t include some basic tools needed by practically all affiliate marketers, most notably a keyword research tool to find great keywords for your marketing efforts.
- Third, Wix doesn’t offer extensive step-by-step training specific to affiliate marketers to help grow your business.
- Fourth, Wix doesn’t have an active 24/7 community of like-minded members to help you out whenever you have questions, concerns, or just wanting to share your thoughts.
There’s only one platform for affiliate marketers that offers all these features, plus more and that’s Wealthy Affiliate. While it doesn’t come with store options, booking features, or advanced analytic tools like Wix, Wealthy Affiliate includes most of everything else Wix offers, including free hosting, domain registration, templates, and SSL Certification, all for one fixed price.

Hello! What an awesome article! I see Wix ads all the time. Whenever I go to watch a Youtube video, or read an article like yours, I usually see a inlfluencer saying how awesome Wix is. Your article definitly helped me out since I’m actually trying to build an affiliate business. I also read your article on Wealthy Affilate too. Awesome stuff! You really helped me out!
Thanks Louis!
Awesome review of Wix. I have seen the commercials on tv with all their fancy celebrities, and wondered how easy it really is. They definitely make it seem incredibly each to build a website. I know with WordPress, creating a site takes no time at all and it really is pretty simple. But the hard part is building it out with all of your content and doing all of the research (which of course they don’t tell you about in the commercial lol)
I wonder why their websites are not SEO friendly or convertable to other hosting sites? I guess they really just want you to stay there. I know you mentioned that you can sign up for free, but what is the cost of creating sites at WIX? With all of those functions, I can’t imagine it being that cheap.
Hi Nicki, currently, Wix costs $5.00 per/month for the most basic plan. But you really don’t get much with that.
Yes, that’s what I heard about platforms like Wix is that you can’t take your site with you. I agree with you that WordPress is by far the best site for Affiliate Marketing. I use WordPress, and while I’m definitely still learning, it is pretty easy to use and there are so many cool plugins you can use to enhance the site. I love it. I am seriously considering the Wealthy Affiliate platform because they do use the WordPress for websites, and it’s free to join, so why not. Thanks.
Thanks Babsie! Appreciate it 🙂
Hi
I have used WIX in the past, well when I say used, I joined and started to set it up but then go stuck and stopped. I never got round to publishing anything. It is still there unpublished for a few years now. I really found it complicated to get my head around it.
I am not saying it is hard to use, I am saying that i found it hard to use.
I took at look at you Wealthy Affiliate article and when I saw what was being offered for Free and was blown away. I soon realized that this is what I needed because I really need the training so that I can start with a solid foundation.
Anyway back to the WIX article, thank you for highlighting the facts and that for my affiliate business I need more than what WIX as to offer.
Jennifer
Thanks for chiming in Jennifer!
I just started looking into affiliate marketing and one of the things I’ve been struggling with is where and how to start a website. I’m really glad you posted this as I was about to go to Wix to start a website (mainly because I’ve seen so many ads for Wix on YouTube videos I’ve been watching. LOL.)
I wasn’t aware that Wix doesn’t offer any in depth training. In this regard, Wealthy Affiliate seems like a much better place to get started with a website as it includes step by step training!
Awesome. Thank you.
Thanks Barry!
