As kids grow up, they start to crave more privacy and independence. They want to be able to make their own decisions and explore the world on their own terms. However, this often leads to kids hiding things from their parents. Normally, they’ll try to hide normal kid things, like sneaking food or boys, but the kids in this article have shown a little more creativity in their hidden objects

1. Ravioli

A parent found a can of ravioli in their third-grade son’s backpack, but they had never bought any. When asked about it, the son burst into tears and revealed a box under his bed filled with ravioli. The son explained that a girl who picked on him and claimed they were married had been giving him ravioli every day and making him take it. The parent imagined the girl’s mother telling her that the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach.

2. A Ball

A parent’s 3-year-old son lost his ball, and when asked, he claimed not to know where it was. The parent assumed it was lost for good and bought the child a new ball. However, when the new ball was given to the child, he said “Thanks! I’ll get my other ball!” and ran straight to a neighbor’s bush to retrieve the lost ball.

3. Push-Ups

A parent discovered that their six-year-old locks the bathroom door for privacy. One night, they saw the bathroom door slightly ajar and found their son doing push-ups in front of the mirror. The parent watched in silence as the child finished their five reps and walked out of the bathroom.

4. Paper

A mom’s daughter is trying to impress them by learning origami. The daughter, who is seven years old, is hiding her messily made, but improving paper cranes as well as paper throughout her room, thinking her father won’t notice. However, the mom accidentally left out two reams of paper, so dad found out, but at least the daughter now has plenty of supplies to continue practicing.

5. A Letter

A parent’s 4-year-old child wrote a letter and keeps it in her bottom drawer, stating that she will retrieve it when her parents die. The child does not allow her parents to look at or touch the letter, but claims it says that the parents gave her loads of money and she gave them loads of pictures. The parent is unsure what this says about their child or themselves, but wonders how long the child will keep the letter, which has already been stored for a month.

6. Tomato Stems

One parent’s child would sneak into the kitchen in the middle of the night and eat a whole tomato, leaving only the little circle where it connected to the stem. The child would hide the little stem circles under whatever was on top of the trash and then go back to sleep. From then on, the parent made sure there were always tomatoes available for the child.

7. Cards

One step-parent allowed their 9-year-old stepdaughter to spend hours alone in her room with markers and papers, assuming she was drawing or making a picture book. However, the parent later discovered that the child had been using the family calendar to make cards for everyone for upcoming holidays and birthdays. Although the parent did not ask the child about it, they were proud of the child’s logic and long-term planning abilities.

8. Late-Night Slurpee Runs

An 18-year-old child of a parent was sneaking out at night to go to 7-Eleven for a Slurpee. The parent confronted the child after noticing this behavior for several weeks. The parent informed the child that there was no curfew as they were now an adult and that hopping fences could be seen as suspicious. Additionally, the parent told the child that they had a driver’s license and could take the car to go to 7-Eleven if they wanted a Slurpee. The parent emphasized that the child was not fooling them and that they had the money to buy a Slurpee if they wanted one.

9. Blueberries

A parent’s 5-year-old child stashed a bunch of blueberries under their pillow for later but forgot about them. The blueberries got squished on the first night, and the parent discovered them when changing the child’s sheets a few days later.

10. The Family Dog

A parent’s two-year-old child tries to hide the family’s 75-pound dog in various places in their room so that the dog can sleep with them.
