This is your reminder of how recent the civil rights movement is. It is eerie to think of property covenants that did not allow sales to people of color. A person of color shared, “I live in a house where that was in the original deed restriction.”

10. Opium

Opium was the magic potion at the time. From recreational use to medicinal purposes, it was all the rage. Someone voiced their concern for such absurdity since no two uses would be remotely close. They joked, “Have a headache? Have some opium. Just had a baby? Here’s some opium.”
